PETA - Please Eliminate These Activists

Washington (AP) - The group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals wants the flyswatter in chief to try taking a more humane attitude the next time he's bedeviled by a fly in the White House.

PETA is sending President Barack Obama a Katcha Bug Humane Bug Catcher, a device that allows users to trap a house fly and then release it outside.

We know that PETA uses similar tactics on animals that they "rescue" from animal shelters. They gently rescue them from shelters and release them outside; they release them from life and then dump them outside fast food restaurants!

Space Junk Painted white to save planet

Following on from a previous report that the Obama administration to shoot junk into space to block the sun-light, (the first space litterer?) now we have Steven Chu, a Nobel-winning physicist running the Obama Energy Department, suggested this week that — in terms of the greenhouse effect — painting roofs and bleaching road surfaces worldwide would have the same impact as taking every car off the road for more than a decade.

What about going one step further and painting the upper side of the junk white to reflect the sun?

Are we sure he won the Nobel Prize? Oh, yeah, so did Al Gore.

Coke to turn off electro kinetic sculpture” during Earth Hour.

In an item on National Post by Peter Foster(one of the good guys):

I hope they realise that when Mr Obama declares CO2 a dangerous pollutant, they will have to take the fizzzz out of coke!

California told to free inmates in crowded jails

"CALIFORNIA must release thousands of inmates from its overcrowded jails in order to improve conditions which violate prisoners rights, a panel of judges said in a preliminary ruling Monday."

Well, perhaps governor Arnie could take in some of them. While on this subject, POTUS Obama wants the terrorists in Guananamo
Bay to be re-located. Perhaps he could put them up in the Left Wing.

The Groundhog named Gore by Alan Caruba

On Alan Caruba's blog, he writes

Happily, humans exhale about two pounds of CO2 every day. Burning anything, including calories, produces CO2. Even if there is more CO2, it has little to do with climate change."

Pre-election President Obama said that, when elected, he would declare CO2 a "dangerous pollutant." No more bread, cakes, wine, beer. When will this stupidity end?

Obama won't call Rudd

I’m sure it’s simply because Barack Obama is too busy. And yet it will hurt Kevin Rudd not to have the access to him that John Howard once earned with George Bush:

BARACK Obama began his presidency last week with telephone calls to leaders in the Middle East. He has since placed calls to the prime ministers and presidents of Britain, Russia, France, Germany and Canada.

But almost a week after his inauguration, the new president is yet to pick up the phone to Kevin Rudd, the leader of America’s most steadfast ally…

The talks came amid the fall-out from The Australian’s publication of an account of a telephone conversation between Mr Rudd and then president George W Bush. US officials denied Mr Rudd’s account of the conversation.

Rudd’s problem, of course, is that Obama will not need Rudd as Bush needed Howard.
For a start, he is a multilateralist, and in that game we’re small beer.
What’s more, Obama does not stand short of (largely fair-weather) friends at the moment, so we’re at the back of a long queue.
Third, of course, is Rudd’s chronic leaking of private calls.

One of the most disturbing aspects of the global warming scam is the number of prominent people and entire segments of society bullied into silence.

He described the case of ex NASA employee Dr. Joanne Simpson (the first woman in the world to receive a PhD in meteorology)
who said“Since I am no longer affiliated with any organization nor receiving any funding, I can speak quite frankly….As a scientist I remain skeptical...The main basis of the claim that man’s release of greenhouse gases is the cause of the warming is based almost entirely upon climate models."

"Hansen must know that if the cooling trend continues, as many scientists anticipate, he is in a dangerous position. When a bureaucrat convinces a politician of a scientific position, as Hansen has so forcefully done with Gore and Obama, and they make it a major part of their political positions he is on a treadmill. He has to keep spinning the story and avoid the facts while increasing the threats. Further, Hansen must make sure political actions he advocates, such as carbon taxes, must be implemented before more cooling occurs and Obama’s four-year term ends. "

Gore will still push because of his trade in carbon credits. Obama, almost freezing at his inauguration might already be changing his mind. Well worth reading from link in title.

DOOM! 4 years left - Last Chance- Jim Hansen

After making doom and gloom predictions for years, (we should all be dead by now) Jim Hansen has made another.

Mark this date - Sunday 18 January 2009.

'We have only four years left to act on climate change - America has to lead' Quote from Hansen.

"(Obama's) four-year administration offers the world a last chance to get things right, Hansen said. If it fails, global disaster - melted sea caps, flooded cities, species extinctions and spreading deserts - awaits mankind."

melted sea caps?? Does this mean melted ice caps when both poles have more ice now than 1980?

Flooded cities?? A paper by Cazenave et al (http://sciences.blogs.liberation.fr/home/files/Cazenave_et_al_GPC_2008.pdf) can be summarised as follows :
since 2003, sea level has continued to rise but with a rate (2.5+/-0.4 mm/yr) somewhat reduced compared to the 1993-2003 decade (3.1+/-0.4mm/yr).

So, at the rate of the latest decade, the rise over a full century would be ~254mm or,even by using the previous decade's rate, over a full century the rise would be ~310mm.

Less than a third of a metre, around one foot in the old currency!

How many cities will be flooded in the next 100 years? Even more importantly, Mr Hansen, how many cities will be flooded in the NEXT FOUR YEARS?

A Quiet Farewell and Warm Reception

George Bush, as usual, made a gracious and dignified exit!

The Bushes were accompanied on the trip (home to Texas)by a core group of aides who helped Mr. Bush narrowly win two terms as president and achieve some notable policy successes – but also (sucessfully)lead the nation through some of America's toughest times in recent decades, including the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, two wars, recessions, a financial meltdown and a devastating hurricane.

We all should remember that the Sub-Prime Policy of the Democrats, initially by President Jimmy Carter and standards later lowered by Bill Clinton and again later backed by Senate leader Nancy Pelosi, was the major cause of the financial meltdown.

Will Obama turn his back on this long-standing Democrat Policy or will it still be there as a threat to the world's financial future?

Hottest January Day

For all those predicting that temperatures are rising, please note that Tomorrow (14/1/09) is the 70th Anniversary of Sydney's hottest January day. This was before major industrialisation, before every home had a refrigerator, TV, computer, video, gameboy, electrical washing machine. People used hand powered push mowers and very few families had a motor car. Hardly anyone flew around the world. What do you think our CO2 output was then?

And Obama is going to call CO2 a "dangerous pollutant" contributing to global warming?

Our hottest January days have been  14/1/39        45.3º;

                                                                  27/1/1960   42.4º;  

                                                                   4/1/1942    41.9º;

Not one of the top 20 hottest January days is after 1977 when we really started pumping CO2 into the atmosphere.

Remember that very hot New Year's day a few years back? Not there.

Barack Obama’s Polluted Mind -No More Alcohol?

Mr. Gore: Apology Accepted

Harold Ambler in the Huffington Post writes:

"Mr. Gore has stated, regarding climate change, that 'the science is in.' Well, he's absolutely right about that except for one tiny thing. It is the biggest whopper ever sold to the public in the history of humankind."

He goes on to list what is wrong with the statement including:

"..the expression 'climate change' is a redundancy and contains a lie. Climate has always changed and always will. ....it is assumed, by anyone with any level of knowledge, that climate changes. That is the redundancy to which I allude. The lie is the suggestion that climate has ever been stable."
